Medical dopers please help I have very high blood pressure 220/130

Here is my situation; I went to the doctor for a general check up. I have not been to a doctor as an adult and this is the first time in years that I have had a job that gives me health insurance. So the nurse takes my blood pressure and it was 210/120 and she seemed to get real concerned so she called in another nurse to take my blood pressure again and she got 220/130. They then did an EKG and in a couple of minutes the Dr. came in, he checked my breathing heart rate ect. And asking if I had a headache or any pain, I had nothing, I felt good like any other day. The Dr. was very concerned and sent me to the ER. There they tested me at 230/160 and admitted me immediately. They hooked me up to all there stuff and gave me an oral drug which I don’t remember the name of and after a couple hours of no change gave me another 1 and then 2 types of IV drugs. That finally had some effect, I was released after 6 hrs and the lowest I got was 179/103. All blood tests came back normal, in the ER and latter with my doctor. I stated taking toprol xl 50 mg 2x per day and after 1 week BP was 190/120. Then my Dr. added exforge once a day after another week BP 210/130, so now added Tekturna once a day. That was yesterday, next week going to a cardiologist, and today I went in for an ultra sound. Please help with any advice or knowledge…

Sorry to close this, but getting advice from a message board is not the way to go.

I’m sure you’re a bit taken aback by all of the medical situations you have experienced recently. But, again, this message board isn’t the place to look for help.

It sounds like you’re in competent hands with your docs. I hope things go well.
