Medical terminology needed: bleeding on side of nose

The (out)side of my nose started bleeding a couple of hours ago for no apparent reason. I’ve put a plaster on it (twice) and the bleeding is gradually subsiding, so I don’t need advice on the treatment. I’m guessing that it’s a burst blood vessel given the amount of blood expressed and the long time it’s taking to heal. But because I’m at work, this needs to go into the Accident Book, and so I need the correct terminology. I originally thought of calling it an aneurysm but on reviewing Wiki that doesn’t seem correct.

spontaneous rupture of blood vessel on (left or right) ala. (if it was the outside of a nostril)

See your doctor. Blood vessels are normally not so fragile they burst spontaneously. Of course, if you were picking at a zit or scratching your nose, that could explain it.

My concern is if you spend a lot of time in the sun. One of the first places the skin changes into suspicious tissue is the nose.

Even if everything turns out hunky-dory, this could be a great opportunity to remind you to apply sunscreen when you spend time outdoors, with extra, special attention to the face and nose.

And here’s me plastered up.
