Explain – I saw someone’s premium and for Part A it lists nothing, but for Part B it demands $663.00. They aren’t on medicaid but don’t have that high of a salary (under 80k).
Why is it so much? Is that a mistake?

According to the Social Security Website the medicare “Part B” contributions should be as follows:
File Individual Tax Return
$85,001–$107,000 – $154.70
$107,001–$160,000 – $221.00
160,001–$214,000 – $287.30
above $214,000 – $353.60
File Joint Tax Return
$170,001–$214,000 – $154.70
$214,001–$320,000 – $221.00
$320,001–$428,000 – $287.30
above $428,000 – $353.60
If you qualify for Medicare, there’s no premium for Part A. If you wish to select Part B (which covers doctors, durable medical equipment, etc.) the premium for 2010 for most people is $96.40 a month: http://www.medicare.gov/Publications/Pubs/pdf/11444.pdf
Under 80K, you will note that it is $96.40. I don’t understand the figure you gave. Perhaps you can give more details.
