Whew, that’s good. Here’s hoping it’s just another round of baby hair growth that needs to get started.
Maybe your daughter’s nickname be Rapunzel.

If it does turn out to be alopecia and you or your wife have any questions, Hal, let me know. I’ve had it since I was 17 and while it’s a pain in the ass, it’s definitely not the end of the world.
If you can’t get a satisfactory diagnosis, let me know. I had trouble with unexplainable spots appearing on my skin, and multiple dermatologists were unable to work out what was wrong. I work at a major medical center, and I found out that there are dermatology “Grand Rounds”, where they take in mystery cases and make the whole class work on solving them. Worked like a dream. Also, there’s at least one world-famous hair loss researcher here to consult.

And of course, things are always looking up in their line of work…

More to the point - good luck Monday!
Ok, back from the Dermatologist, who contrary to rumor was actually a very nice man. Yes, he most certainly does look like an old Gestapo agent, but he had a very good manner – I held Shayla on my lap and the doc sat on the floor so, as he put it, “she wouldn’t have this creepy-looking man towering over her”.
And the verdict it – <shrug>. From all indications, it looks like “just one of those things”. Apparently her body suffered some sort of trauma to the hair folicles, but there nothing to indicate that it wasn’t a one-off deal. There is a definite covering of fuzz coming in, so hopefully she’ll be back to normal a few months down the road. We go back in October for a followup, and other than that, we just have to hope that whatever happened doesn’t repeat itself. Otherwise I’ll certainly be sending you a PM, mischievous.
Thanks for all the info and help, all!
Got linked to this thread from your other, out of place literature thread. Glad your daughter is okay, Hal and hope all goes well in the future.
