Does anyone here know anything about megavideo.com accounts? I’ve been considering getting one because I feel that it’d be worth it, both because of the sheer amount of time I waste waiting for the 60-minute cap to expire and the ability to download. Before I pony up A) my personal information and B) the dough, I wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with the site. As last words go, I don’t want “Well, they seemed legit…” to be associated with me. Is megavideo reputable, or am I better off finding some other way?
Don’t have megavideo, but I’ve had megaupload for several years now (and paid up through two more). Totally legit, nice service, seems like they’ve even been fixing bugs lately. I think they just require paypal validation, so not much personal information risk involved. Just the risk of a few bucks. I pay around $35/year. Their interface is inane, but the backend (including storage) seems damned stable.
I prefer them to comprable services I’ve paid for off and on, like sendspace.
Depends on what kind of internet you use. AFAIK, cable users have a fixed IP, so they’re boned. ADSL users get a new IP assigned to them everytime they log on, so logging off and on solves the Megavideo limit problem (also works with rapidshare downloads BTW).
There’s still hope for cable users though : either spoof your IP, or go through a proxy (such as the public ones designed to circumvent Chinese censorship).
I’ll say for for it. If you use it often enough the Price is well worth it.
I went through a somewhat similar process a couple of months ago, and ended up signing up for an account. The Nice thing is that when you sign up for Megavideo, you also get full access to Megaupload which is plus as its really handy for transferring large files. Only issue that crops up is that some filter block the site.
I’ll suggest paying through something like Paypal instead of giving them your card details just for the additional layer of safety.
Yeah, that 52 minutes watch limit from Megavideo used to drive me nuts.:smack: Just when I was getting to the good part, the movie stopped and I had to wait for another 50 minutes or so to continue watching the movie. Thankfully, I use Tunebite now to download Megavideo videos and movies I wanna watch. It’s actually pretty cool since it’s able both to record and convert Megavideo videos to avi or other formats, this way I don’t get stuck with just flv files from there.Works for also a whole bunch of websites like YouTube, Faceboook, CBS and others.
I also found this tutorial on how to record videos from Megavideo with Tunebite, this should help u get things started:
