Mel Brooks, auteur

Opps… Accidentally doubled up a phrase here. Just disregard the bolded part. Otherwise the post doesn’t really make sense.

either that, or you were merely repeating for emphasis’ sake

Randolph Scott…

Likewise.

I think Brooks’s movies were generally better when he had somebody to collaborate with. It reduces the over-the-top goofiness.

But Brooks saved the scene by having the gay dresser (dressed as a clown) step in, point to the refugees and shout: “JUDEN…JUDEN!” and fire the prop pistol with the swastika flag, allowing them to escape while the Nazi officers howled with laughter. It’s one of my favorite movie scenes.

Great films

  1. Blazing Saddles
  2. The Producers

sorry about that

Great films

  1. Blazing Saddles
  2. The Producers
  3. Young Frankenstein

Really good

  1. Silent Movie
  2. High Anxiety

Worth watching

  1. History of the World, Part I
  2. To Be or Not to Be
  3. Spaceballs
  4. Life Stinks

I enjoyed Life Stinks because of two things. 1. Leslie Anne Warren has a few great scenes when she goes into her psychotic ravings and 2. The sheer audacity of doing a comedy about homeless people.
