Melt in the rain: sugar or witch?

The truth is that neither salt nor sugar melts in the rain. Their melting points are 801 and 186 degrees Celsius, respectively. They will dissolve, however.

True dat. But a sugar *cube *would *appear *to *melt *if left out in the rain.

Sugar - funnily enough it’s used in Finland as well. Haven’t heard it lately but I’m pretty sure my grandfather used to say it.

Hello, I have come by with a tiny, slight hijack. There is a lovely installation now at the San Jose Museum of Art: raw sugar masks molded from a sugar beet worker’s face. Several of these masks are resting on little platforms along a wall of a gallery. These faces are melting, with puddles of “molasses” underneath. They symbolize the insignificance of the sugar beet workers. Etc.

I enjoyed it and thought it was interesting. That is all. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Never heard either. Mostly Southern New England (MA, CT, RI).
