I think it was “Midnight Special.” I know the scene: John Lithgow is all trussed up in a straight jacket and put into an ambulance. Dan Ackroyd is the driver, and pops a casette in the tape player. Lithgow smiles and says, “I LOVE Creedence” just before Ackroyd says, “You want to see something REALLY scary?”
That’s Vera Lynn doing “We’ll Meet Again” at the close of “Dr. Strangelove.” If you’ve listened to “The Wall” you’ll remember the song “Vera” - “Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?” “We’ll Meet Again” was very big in England during WWII.
“Oh La La,” by the Faces, closed “Rushmore” IIRC. That one worked pretty well.
Did “Rock Around The Clock” play over the credits to “Blackboard Jungle?” If so, that takes the cake. That blew the lid off the whole damn thing.
“Sympathy for the Devil,” Guns n’ Roses, Interview with the Vampire–it was such a perfect choice to end the movie on an evilly triumphant note as the revived Lestat drives off with the newly bitten Christian Slater.
“Miss Misery” from Good Will Hunting–Mournful tune appropriate for the end.
“That’s the Hell of It” from Phantom of the Paradise
“Good for nothing, bad in bed
Nobody loved you, you’re better off dead”–Great stuff!
I was profoundly moved by the closing song for The Professional - Sting’s The Shape of my Heart.
Oh and as an added thought - I’ve always thought Depeche Mode’s Little 15 would be another perfect ending song for that movie…
I’m kind of ashamed to admit this.
Have you seen Legally Blonde? It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be… and at the end, there was a song that really got my toes a-tappin’.
Perfect Day, by Hoku. Yes, Hoku- whose last name is Ho. (Heck, if my last name was Ho, I think I’d drop it, too.)
As in DON Ho. Tiny Bubbles Don Ho.
She’s his daughter.
She’s also a babe. Britney ain’t got nothin’ on Hoku.
[sub]God I’m so embarrassed.[/sub]
Heh.
At the end of “Rock Star”, they played “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
Neil Young’s performance at the end of “Philidelphia” nearly brought me to tears! (and i’m a tough-guy-non-crying-type-he-man-thing)
the michael mcdonald song at the end of the south park movie is funny enough to make you wet yourself if you pay attention to the words
we’ll met again at the end of dr. strangelove is classic
get right back (very cheesy song, i know) at the end of slapshot leaves you feeling like things may just work out for the poor charlestown chiefs (i love that movie-- strother martin immitating someone jerkin off can make you laugh at a funeral!)
Julia by the Eurythmics at the end of 1984. I have to choke back tears everytime I hear it.
Most definately, and also Guns and Roses “you could be mine” from Terminator 2.

Sorry it took more than 5 minutes, but it’s a Friday night.
Two that still haunt me after so many years:
Piano Concerto in D Minor, K. 466, 2nd movement at the end of Amadeus
and the Cat Stevens tune that closes Harold and Maude. Anybody know the name of that last song?
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life at the end of Monty Python’s Life Of Brian.
I have a few:
“Kiss From A Rose” by Seal, from Batman Returns
“It’s My Life” by Wendy O. Williams from Reform School Grls
“A Love Before Time”, both the cello solo by Yo-Yo-Ma and the pop version by Coco Dee, from, what was that film? Oh yes: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The credits song for 1984 was more memorable for me than the film. Julia from that Eurythmics lady. (Second time today I’ve needed that name and been unable to remember it.)
A third vote for ALOTBSOL from Brian. BTW they sung that at Graham Chapman’s funeral.
I will add:
Jailhouse Rock (The Blues Brothers)
Let It Snow (Die Hard 1 and 2–what a contrast to the rest of the movies!)
All Together Now (Yellow Submarine)
A couple of favourites:
"I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever)" at the end (I’m pretty sure it was over the credits) of High Fidelity. I never thought I’d buy a Stevie Wonder record, but after hearing that, I had to track down Talking Book, and I love it, so that was one film that made me branch out in my music tastes.
Also, Arleta’s Mia Fora Thimame from the Praise film was a beautiful way to end a kinda downer of a film, and for Dirty Three fans, it was a chance to hear the song that they rewrote as I Remember A Time When Once You Used To Love Me.
Well, the OP says ‘good,’ but the title just says ‘memorable,’ so I’ll chime in with the memorable end-credits song that sprang to my mind when I read the title.
“The Princess Bride.” If the song has a name, I don’t care to know it, but they take that lovely love theme that’s been echoing through the whole movie and add to it a gravelly-voiced singer and some of The Worst Lyrics Known to Man.
At one point, my college roommates and I could sing the whole thing.
Annie Lennox.
The song at the end of Philedelphia. This is one of very few movies that I have actually cried in, and I thought the ending song with the home video of him as a child just highlighted the incredible waste of a beautiful life that AIDS is.
Does anybody know what song this was?
P.S. - the Eurythmics lady’s name is Annie Lennox
