Damn, simulpost
Pat Benatar’s “Invincible” for The Legend of Billie Jean
And of course “Don’t You Forget About Me” from my favorite movie of all time, The Breakfast Club.

**The song at the end of Philedelphia. This is one of very few movies that I have actually cried in, and I thought the ending song with the home video of him as a child just highlighted the incredible waste of a beautiful life that AIDS is.
Does anybody know what song this was? **
That would be Philadelphia, natch. The singer was Neil Young. Also gets one of my votes.
I also give a vote to Out of My Mind (Duran Duran) at the end of “The Saint” which was a gawdawful flick and was only redeemed by the inclusion of a good song over the credits. I still curse the $8 I blew on that stinker.
Amphibian by Bjork at the end of Being John Malkovich.
I third the The Breakfast Club song.
Also
- I Finally Found Someone by Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams from The Mirror Has Two Faces
- Big Hands by the Violent Femmes from Grosse Point Blank
- and I always sing along to For Once in My life by Dionne Farris in The Truth About Cats and Dogs.
Oh, and I just saw Riding in Cars With Boys recently, and I had never realized how incredibly sad the song “Dream Dream Dream” is (by various artists, but I suppose The Everly Brothers were used there). I came straight home and downloaded it.
When I want you in my arms
When i want you and all your charms
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is dream…
Only trouble is I’m dreaming my life away
Very memorable.

“The Princess Bride.” If the song has a name, I don’t care to know it, but they take that lovely love theme that’s been echoing through the whole movie and add to it a gravelly-voiced singer and some of The Worst Lyrics Known to Man.
You might not care to know it, but I’ll tell you anyway :>) - the song is “Storybook Love” by Willy DeVille (formerly of Mink DeVille), on the album “Miracle”.
Mark Knopfler is credited as writing all the music for the film, except that last song, which is credited solely to DeVille (although I agree that it seems to include Knopfler’s theme). He also plays guitar on the entire album. The best song on the album, IMHO, is “Southern Politician” - I love the riff Knopfler plays throughout, and as a “smart-ass northern liberal”, I like the lyrics. :>)
As for my own favorites, I definitely second (or third, or fourth, as appropriate) Vera Lynn’s “We’ll Meet Again” in Dr. Strangelove, Radiohead’s “Exit Music (for a film)” in Romeo + Juliet, and ALOTBSOL at the end of Life of Brian, but here are a few other personal favorites:
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me - Cherubini, Requiem in C Minor
Lost Highway - David Bowie, “Deranged”
The Matrix - Rage Against The Machine, “Wake Up”
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - Pink Floyd, “Seamus”
Gallipoli - Albinoni, Adagio in G Minor
Wild at Heart - Elvis Presley, “Love Me Tender”
Last Temptation of Christ - Peter Gabriel, “It Is Accomplished”
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Rolling Stones, “Jumping Jack Flash”
…there are others, I’m sure, but this is all I can think of now.
No Doubt…RAINDROPS Keep Falling On My Head - B.J. Thomas
from Butch Cassidy And The Sundance KId

**What? No mentions for “One Tin Soldier” from Billy Jack? **
Thats got my vote.
My mom was addicted to this movie when I was a wee youngin, and its stuck with me through all the years.
Must go find tape…
Philadelphia was done by Bruce Springsteen, not Neil Young.

Actually, the Springsteen song from the film is called “Streets of Philadelphia.” The song “Philedelphia” was indeed performed by Neil Young.
Full soundtrack listing for the movie “Philadelphia” from IMDB:

Robbie Williams’ version of “(Have You Seen) Miss Jones” [or maybe it’s just “Miss Jones”], from “Bridget Jones’ Diary”.
Ditto for the votes for Dr. Strangelove, Life of Brian, and High Fidelity (you beat me to that one).
Innocent When You Dream, by Tom Waits. It’s at the end of Smoke, played over a rather charming sequence. See the film!
Tattler, by Ry Cooder. It plays at the end of Cadillac Man, the Robin Williams/Tim Robbins movie. I just like the song, and it fit the theme.
I have to concur with Dr. Strangelove’s “We’ll Meet Again” and Life Of Brian’s “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.”
Alan Price’s “Lucky Man” from “O Lucky Man” is also excellent.
Please don’t kill me.
I know this thread is so old it’s got dinosaur shit on it, but I couldn’t resist when I saw that one of my favorites was not on here.
I loved the credit song for Heart and Souls. It was Walk Like a Man.
Not only is it a great song, but fitting considering it was a symbol in the movie.

**and the Cat Stevens tune that closes Harold and Maude. Anybody know the name of that last song? **
The song is “If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out.”
Also, in reference to the Philadelphia closing song by Neil Young, I believe the official title is “City of Brotherly Love.”
I didn’t even realize this thread was 2 years old until reading that last post, but since no one mentioned “Against All Odds” by Phil Collins at then end of the movie with the same name, I thought I would throw that in. The way they freeze the picture on Rachel Ward’s tear filled face is heartbreaking.
Terence Trent d’Arby singing “Letting Go” at the end of The Fan is my favorite. The song fit perfectly with the last scene from the movie.
Blast. kunilou beat me to it.
Dr Strangelove’s “We’ll Meet Again” is such a strangely chilling song at the end of a fantastic film.
The singer of Croucing tiger, hidden dragon is Coco Lee, not Dee.
I haven’t seen the movie yet (waiting for the DVD) but does that gorgeous song from LotR-TTT by Emiliana Torrini (Gollums song) qualify? It’s the most beautiful song I’ve heard for some time.
