Menapause and Birth Control

I just had this random thought… From what I understand, a female is born with all the eggs she will have in her lifetime. Menapause begins when those eggs start to become depleted. Birth control stops one from releasing an egg every month. Therefore, does birth control in any way delay the onset of menapause, since those eggs are not being released?

The Master Speaks.

Summary: No. Only a small part of a woman’s eggs are ever released anyway; most simply get too old and die off.

And new research indicates that the old idea of a woman being born with all the ova she’ll ever have is apparently wrong, anyway. It appears new ones are generated during her fertile lifetime.

ovaries may continue to produce new eggs

Dammit…I was hoping that this theory would be right and if so I would stay on birth control forever and delay menopause til death.

Actually you could take the pill continuously until you reach menopausal age. I wonder if that would work…
