Wondered if anyone else felt this way:
IMHO, some Disney or cartoon music, such as the orchestral rendition of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, or other Disney scores, is some of the greatest stuff ever composed. Unfortunately, the fact that it was the soundtrack to a Disney kid’s movie makes it feel silly and takes the shine off of it, so what I have to do is mentally pretend that “Part of Your World” was instead the track to some World War II movie or historical drama or something a lot more serious in order to give the music its necessary grandeur. Ditto for movies like Ever After; the movie is horrible but the music is mind-blowing. I have to pretend it’s music composed for some other purpose.
