I know it may be a bit presumptuous for a newbie to go starting threads like this, but…
I was just thinking about the trials and tribulations of my beloved Boston Red Sox, and the Sammy Sosa trade rumors, when a thought hit me. If multi-national corporations can merge to crush their rivals, why not sports teams? And why not the two most lovable losers in baseball: the Red Sox and the Cubs? So, our new team, the Bosago Cub Sox, plays half its home games at Wrigley and half at Fenway, and just splits the rest of the schedule. Interleague play? Ha! We’ve got an interleague team! Of course, the FTC would begin to investigate this clear monopoly of talent (Sosa, Nomar, Pedro, etc.) and split the team back up, but not before we got ourselves a couple of World Series to split.
This could even go into the NBA (The Los Couver GrizzClips could contend for a playoff spot) and football (the Clevenatti Browngals might be a force in a few years). Any other ideas? Feel free to submit sports teams, celebrities, whatever. I want to become the Bill Gates of everything but computers!
