'Merica Back to Back World War Champs

actually for the longest time certain policy was dictated by the assumption that if ww3 started it was going to start as a USSR/US proxy war in the middle east like Israel or Iraq maybe even Kuwait (us side) invading Iran or syria or even occupied Afghanistan (the USSR side ) and then escalate ala WW1 desert storm changed that …

now now that was them, newly arrived unwashed immigrant potato-headed micks in the Bowery that instigated that… wasn’t no true Americans nosiree

It’s not the people who get bent out of shape by invasions that are the problem, it’s the ones that get blown to smithereens.

There’s a big difference between a bunch of guys in one city briefly rioting over being sent to fight, and the entire current Canadian government facing a crisis that threatened the entire war effort.

I mean I know you’re angry and all about the recent revelation that Canada didn’t burn down the White House but don’t take it out on us.

From what I understand, they were rioting because poor people were being drafted while the rich were buying their way out. If anything, then, you should be criticizing the people who’d rather pay than fight.

Who could you possibly have in mind…

You’re perfectly welcome to have another go right now! Just make sure the family’s home.

Which reminds me of the old “Southeast Asia War Games – Second Place Participant” t-shirts. My brother, a career officer and vet of two tours there, had one as one of his “guilty pleasures”.

Which goes to the OP sort of; how we react personally to anything is just that – kind of personal. I see shirts almost every day at work (we all basically wear Ts) that annoy me or give me joy. Everything from “I really need one of those” to “what the hell are you thinking”. I guess its why I like t-shirts with slogans so much; they are a built-in excuse for me to approach strangers and engage them in conversation.

It’s fun to watch people get annoyed because they think that “light hearted” jokes about getting hundreds of thousands killed are in bad taste.

I also like to take a shit in the middle of a Denny’s and laugh at the people who recoil in disgust.

You do you, I guess. Doesn’t sound like my cup of tea.

At least a quarter million people don’t get killed over my “lighthearted” joke.

…are ya sure?

Not as sure as I’d like to be, and that does concern me more than a little.

…but…but…I thought that was the resolving answer to the 3-year old question of “When WAS America Great, that we want to go back to such times again?”

It’s not about igniting a third so we can be champs and revel in the glory again.

Is it?

We are missing out on a few fairly significant events here so the term ‘World War’ is perhaps misleading - unless you want to call the following little league events,

Seven Years wars - 1756 onwards, prety much all of Europe and their colonies were involved and it can be argued led to the creation of the US as an independent nation, along with setting up the borders of North and middle America, with the added bonus of kicking the French out of India.

Napoleonic Wars - lasted a good 15 years or so and involved most of Europe and their colonies
