Merry Christmas Everyone!

Woke up early this morning for a breakfast of pancakes and sausage links. Maple syrup made an appearance too. We’re enjoying coffee now and will open presents in another hour. We like to spread out our activities and keep the tree looking nice for a little while on Christmas morning. Already have steaks marinating for this afternoons grilling. My daughters are home this year and I’m so happy the family is all together.

Hope everyone is with their families and enjoying this blessed day. Eat lots of food, play music, and lets not forget football or basketball.

I’ll eat lots of chocolate. It’s too cold and snowy for any non-winter-related outdoor sports here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Have a great day, everyone!

Merry Christmas! We will go to Les Mis for the 11 o’clock show, then have turkey.

Merry Christmas aceplace57 and all! We had ours last night a few minutes after midnight. Older son was too intrigued by long package to wait (a tent for sleeping on the beach to get some good shots with his camera), we were all up so tore into our gifts. More art supplies for our younger son. Right now everybody’s sleeping in but me. Ham later and casseroles coming out of our ears. It’s a good day tho a little tornado-y here in the FL panhandle. Cold front tomorrow; might get into the 50’s!

Merry Christmas to all!

Having no little children in the house, Mr. MLS and I slept til about noon. We were going to have French toast, discovered the bread had mold on it, and had bacon & eggs instead. I have started preparations for the feast later when the daughters, son-in-law and granddaughter arrive. I finished putting the Christmas gingerbread men on the tree.

I went to church this morning, but before that I had to go to a 24-hour Walgreens to get eggs. I can’t believe I forgot them yesterday.

Now I have bread rising in the oven. Our family will be getting together at 5:00PM for dinner.

I should go walk the dog but it’s so very cold out, I think I’ll take him just far enough to do his business then head back inside.

We’re having a Wet Christmas here in Northern California. We got up around 8, opened presents, had our traditional “Christmas pie” (ham, potatoes, spinach and cheese), and sat down to play the new family game that Santa brought; this year it was Agricola. Now we’re relaxing for a couple hours before we head to my mother-in-law’s for dinner.

Merry Christmas to all!

My 17-year-old son still gets so excited over Christmas that he can’t sleep! When I got up at 6:30, he told me he had finally given up on trying to sleep at 2:30, so he came downstairs, started a fire in the fireplace and surfed on his computer until his dad and I got up.

I baked popovers for breakfast after opening gifts. Went for a run around 10, took a little nap after lunch. I have two ducks roasting in the oven and will soon be starting the side dishes. There is a chocolate truffle cake with chocolate ganache and praline topping for dessert.

Merry Christmas!

Another Christmas Day winding down…

So, who else has kids knee-deep in new toys, whining that they have nothing to do?

For us guys, Victoria’s Secret Models singing “Deck the Halls”. One of them has trouble with the lyrics, even the “fa la las”! - YouTube

On a more somber note, the Coventry Carol, in memory of those killed in Newtown and all children whose lives have been cut short by violence. - YouTube

Relatives have gone home, machine washables are in the dishwasher. This was one of the best Christmases ever because of the granddaughter.

The rib roast turned out perfectly, not only because it was a choice cut, but because of the cooking advice and carving ability of my chef son-in-law.
