This, a thousand times, yes. Shopping with Mr Boods is an exercise in not killing anyone [Mr Boods]; he’s a slow, deliberate shopper whereas I hit stores with the same vigour and aplomb as a team of Vikings on a raid.
Our solution: I take off as if I’m on a timed scavenger hunt with a live bear on my arse, he goes poking around for yet another mud-coloured pair of trousers, and occasionally we text each other to triangulate locations. This has worked well in places such as an ordinary supermarket run (where I don’t bother to text, as come on, Waitrose isn’t that big), Gunwharf Quays (which is an outlet in Portsmouth), as well as the city of Brighton.
Every time a Doper becomes a Member, an angel gets its wings!! Congrats on your present to yourself!
I remember your username because an ES-330 is a kinda-obscure Gibson guitar model that my favorite jazz guitarist played. (Oh, geekery, is there nothing you can’t do?). And as for presents, once again - typically guitar-related, as Chefguy can relate. In my case I am debating a Haggle: seeing how I might trade a guitar or two of mine to upgrade to a guitar that a dealer I know currently has. If I can pull it off, it will be fun - if not, it’s fun working through the variables…
I bought a bunch of games during the Holiday sale on Steam and other game-downloading sites, but I’m not sure I’d classify those purchases specifically as “gifts for myself,” seeing as I bought them simply because I wanted them and they were heavily discounted. If the same items were available at the same prices any other time of the year I’d have still bought them.
Good lord, I can’t stop… so far, I’ve gotten myself a massage, some new clothes for work & yoga, a yoga mat towel, some computer games, conspicuously inadvisable carbs, and I feel a trip to the book store in the offing. They had a sale of home-crafted things at my dojo last week and it took a great exercise in will to not pick up a yoga mat bag, fanny pack and a few other things. I’ll be living on peanut butter sandwiches next month, but it’s worth it.
Weird question but how does one even sign up for membership? I don’t see a button the main page or anywhere that says to click it to buy membership. How much is it and how long does it last? What benefits do you get?
Made a quick stop at the little garden shop on the way home yesterday to pick up paperwhite bulbs for myself. Humming happily, I arranged them in a nice container I had. While my husband glared at me quietly, since he had some waiting under the tree for me.
