Hear, hear. Hang on, hope for better times, and do what you can to make them happen.
My (public service) office had a year where something had gone terribly wrong in budgetting and so temporary staff (some of whom had been around quite a while) all got laid off over Christmas, with a hope but no guarantee of being reemployed in the New Year.
The office manager got to deliver the bad news, so everyone was dreading the call from her.
People were wondering how to go about getting lamb’s blood to daub above the lintels of their cubicles…
Holy crap, that’s rough. I hope things happen quickly and you find yourself enjoying the holidays knowing there’s something good waiting for you in January.
You worked for… the Bluth Company?
Good luck, Chessic.
At one place I worked, the manager was fired on Christmas Eve. Knowing this company, they probably didn’t pay give him any severance pay or anything either. He was a married man with kids and he was fired for extremely shit reasons including a large dollop of racism, but I was still surprised that were so callous as to fire him on Christmas Eve.
Good luck with the interview, Chessic, and have fun in Vegas!
I once got told the same thing, closing up on Dec 17th, it was on Dec 15th.
