A note to SDMB newcomers in late December

Traditionally, there’s a reduction in post traffic at this time of year. Everybody’s busy with holiday stuff. I remember a newcomer a few years ago who groused, “Where is everybody? I thought this was The Teeming Millions!” Well, stick around, newbie. Things will pick up. I don’t remember who originally called us “teeming millions,” but it was a humorous exaggeration. We’re a crazy/nice/loveable/maddening/smart bunch of people.
