metamorphosis of a kitty

When I first found my cat she was a stray inside the engine of my car. A tiny month old baby who hid behind the toilet and didn’t show herself for weeks at a time, even with me trying constantly to play with her. This went on for months, and when she became sick a few months ago I didn’t know for awhile because she wouldn’t make herself that visible. Well, it turned out she had worms and after she got treated for them, her personality totally changed!

Phobic became a playful, affectionate, loving healthy cat who meows constantly…but only acts like this to me! Yeah, she hides from my family but as soon as I am alone with her she climbs into my lap and stays there, purring endlessly and rubbing ehrself on me. She would only sleep on me. Not next to me, but ON me.

She’s going to have to be shipped to me in the US alone. Her shots aren’t a month old and apprently they need to be or she can’t fly overseas. So, soon I am going to Kansas and once the month has passed my husband will send her to me. I know several people here who have done this, shipped their pets without them, and apparently you can actually do that. I never knew that.

I am happy that Phobic is friendly now. I’ll post some pictures of her tomorrow.

I’m glad to hear that you get to take your kitty back to the States with you - even if it is after a month’s wait! I’m sure she’ll be extremely happy to see you when she gets to Kansas! Cats are a great comfort when things are changing in life!

My cat has little “metamorphoses” as well - about every two weeks. She just keeps changing habits, like sleeping habits (where and when), and which toy she plays with, and how she behaves towards us. We call them her phases. Right now she’s in a “sleep all the time on SO’s computer chair, beg for LOTS of tummy rubs and only play with twist ties and hair elastics” phase. I’m guessing in a week or so it’ll be “sleep on the bed, play aggresively and play with the fuzzy mousies” phase (those are her two major ones!)

I wish you the best, ats, and I hope that you’ll be happy and healthy in your new home!

Where are you going to be in Kansas? Because if it’s in the vicinity of Topeka I can recommend a couple of good vets.

Here’s a link to a thread ATS started explaining where she was going to live. Thread

ATS I hope your kitty makes it safely to you in Kansas with no airsickness etc. Good luck with your move.

I’ve had my cat Brat for a year and a half and she’s finally starting to come around.

She was never shy, but she never wanted to be touched by anyone. Now my wife, stepson and I can pet her, but she still doesn’t like to be picked up.

Here are some pictures of Phobic.
This is her snuggled up on the blankets on my bed, as usual, and
here she is doing the same on another day. She meowed right when I took the picture, which explains why it looks like she’s singing.

Right now as I type this she’s running around the room chasing christmas bows. She ignores all regular toys and prefers those.
