So, I rarely have reason to ride Metra but I do have to get out to Barrington tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. I am planning to catch the Union Pacific/Northwestern line at Irving Park. However, I seem to recall some of the Metra platforms have outbound trains on the left hand side in the direction of travel instead of the right hand side. It looks like that is the case for this line but I’m not 100% sure. Does anyone know definitively which platform I want to be on to catch the outbound train? The west side or the east?
The three Metra Union Pacific Lines (the UP West, Northwest, and North lines) have left-hand running. The Irving Park station is on the UP Northwest line so the trains run on the left side of the tracks. Board from the west platform (the platform furthest from the expressway).
