In our cars, it’s ALWAYS the fuel pump.
Mr. needscoffee recommends:
- Take out the battery and have it load tested because it might be shorting out (though still have a surface charge).
- Pull the air filter and watch as the car warms up to see if the butterfly valve in the carburator closes. If it doesn’t then your choke is faulty.
- If it does close then maybe the float needle in the carburator is worn out.
- Pull the fuel line off the fuel pump and see if it fills up a cup in a certain amount of time as described by the manual.
