I’m in Miami at the moment, and have seen lots of notices in three languages: English and Spanish, as I’d expect, and another language I don’t recognise. It seems to be based on French but with some modified English words (for example problem = pwoblem) and odd “phonetic” spelling, so my best guess is some kind of Creole. Can anyone tell me what it is exactly?
Haitian french?
Probably Haitian Creole based on the description and your position in the world.
It’s Haitian Creole. Haiti was a French colony from 1697 to 1804. According to this site, there are about 300,000 Haitian-Americans in South Florida.
