Link. So far I havent’ seen any of the news services pick this up, though, but I don’t think JMS would post this without good corroboration.
He posted on Twitter, too. The timing is weird. B5 has been on my mind lately as I’ve been steadily re-watching it the last month of so and am in the middle of season three. O’Hare got a lot of criticism for playing Sinclair woodenly, but this time through I saw strong, understated leadership. I’m glad I have a much better appreciation for him now.
Wow. That’s really sad. So many B5 actors are gone now. (Jeff Conaway, Andreas Katsulas, Richard Biggs, Tim Choate, and now O’Hare.)
The One Who Was. RIP.
Forgive me for asking, but is JMS truly the source?
The Facebook source linked is “Fans of J. Michael Straczynski”.
I presume those who follow this page know if JMS controls it (and I’d accept their word), but it’s definitely not clear from the limited info available to me that he does.
I’d investigate, but I don’t do Facebook.
Yes, it’s maintained by JMS and the posts come from him.
I had no idea he was in C.H.U.D. which is one of my favorite movies.
Oh, no. That makes me very sad. He struck me as a nice person. While I never spoke to him, I was sitting within touching distance of him at a con panel, many years ago. He came across as being very affable, and very patient with questions.
Time to break out the B5 DVDs again, I guess.
Sheridan: “From the stars we came. To the stars we return, from now until the end of time. We therefore commit these bodies to the deep.”
I like Boxleitner, but I always preferred O’Hare on B5.
I saw him at a Lunacon back around '95; we were on a panel together. I do recall most his presentation where he talked about (and showed) the difference between acting on stage* and acting on TV/Movies and how you did entirely different things to achieve the same result.
I also recall him seeing a toddler running around the hall and being amused by it all.
Sad to hear he’s gone.
*He played the Jack Nicholson part in the original Broadway production of A Few Good Men.
He was the second actor to play the role, actually. The first was Stephen Lang (the bad guy from Avatar).
B5 is what brought me here, actually. As I said, I’ve been re-watching my DVD’s and went Googling to find out if anyone was still talking about it and what the actors were doing. One of the first results was a thread here from a few years ago. Liked the rest of the board and decided to stay.
I love this scene, I practically fall asleep:
Holy carp. That was the con I saw him at (though I didn’t attend that panel).

RIP, Commander Sinclair.
Damn. I searched for “Babylon” and didn’t even see that.
Awww I loved him in B5. I met him at a convention in Dublin once and he was really nice and considerate. Sorry to hear of his passing.
You missed it by O’Hare …
Sad to hear of his passing - he was my age, just a few months older than I. I loved him as Commander Sinclair on Babylon 5. A number of the cast seem to have passed away at early ages.
RIP Michael O’Hare, you will be missed.
