Microsoft critical update pops up every day?!

Every day when I turn my computer on, a window pops up and states that there is a new Microsoft Critical Update that I need to download and install. Every day it is the same update (February Service Pack). I have downloaded and installed this thing a dozen times, but apparently to no avail. What the heck is going on here?

It’s hard to help without knowing anything about your particular system, such as Windows version, IE version, and so on.

I’m guessing you are referring to the almost infamous “810847: February 2003, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1”

There are lots of people having this problem. You could always disable the Critical Update Notification for the time being, if it’s really bothering you.

As far as I know, there isn’t a fix for it yet.

Yep, that sounds like what I’ve got.

I’m running Windows 98 on a Gateway P3 500mhz with 512MB RAM, IE version is 6.0.2800.1106.

Thanks for the input.

Try installing the update through the Microsoft Windows Update site.

Peace.

And then send a nasty email to the evil empire just to show how much you love them.
