I would like to use several (15-20) clip-art images from Microsoft Design Gallery Live in a video project.
The video is essentially a video presentation of a children’s storybook. It will contain images, text, narration, music and sound effects.
Would there be any legal problems with using the clip-art in this way?
Forgot to add - The video would be a commercial product.
I’m not familiar with MS Design Gallery per se, but it sounds like a royalty-free clip art collection. Typically, royalty-free material can be used in any way other than trying to re-sell it or to cause damage from it. You mention that this will be a commercial project, and that’s a bit confusing. If the video will be sold, then I’d say the safe thing is to not use these images; on the other hand, if “commercial” just means that you’re getting paid for your efforts and that your client will not redistribute the end-product for profit, then you should have no problems using the images.
Just for reference, a couple of royalty-free license agreements (I found the EULA for MS Design Gallery to be murky, unfortunately):
Hope that helps.
