Microsoft to challenge google

I must admit that WinXP has tempered my anger toward MS (I was one of those poor bastards saddled with WinME for a brief period), but this statement indicates they still have delusions of grandeur. Often I have had to use google to find a microsoft file when the microsoft search turned up nothing on their own site.

Kinda funny to see the #1 result of entering “worst search engine” on google.

I read this last night on slashdot and I must say I’m not surprised. Microsoft for me is a topic that will 9 times out of 10 bring forth a string of thoughts and words worthy only for the pit so forgive me for being quite restrained. Microsoft basically sees anything and everything involving the computing industry as competition and uses a vast number of tactics, many underhanded, to ensure that when they decide to spread their tentacles into yet another aspect of computing they can run rampant and maintain their ever growing monopoly. I wouldn’t be surprised if I found that Longhorn (the code name for XP2) will come with some kind of bundled use of the MS search engine…or better yet, you will find that any time you surf to Google or another search engine with MSIE you will be redirected to the MSN search…given the games they play with non IE browsers and the MSN site (you might recall the Opera incident) I wouldn’t put anything past them anymore.

methinks (or at least hopes) that MS will be wise enough to let this alone.

You scared the crap out of me Lord for a second there I thought I was being pitted.

:::sigh of relief:::
