Like the “Make Poverty History” concerts of a year or two back? Gave everyone such a warm inner glow but achieved exactly nothing? Worse than that, gave people the mistaken belief that they could solve a complex and nuanced issue by turning up to a concert and cheering. You gotta be kidding…
I’m still in shock that he joined the ALP. My feeling is that he is currently dying on his knees, whereas before he was living on his feet. And like BACI, I wonder how he can live with himself. Then again, he just sang for the Oils. He didn’t write the lyrics.
Archie Roach didn’t write From Little Things Big Things Grow. That was Kev Carmody.
Sounds pointless and probably was. But overall I suspect that MO lyrics about various issues have got some people thinking about and perhaps voting about those issues in a way you wouldn’t otherwise expect.
Actually it was Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly. I was saying that I thought Archie Roach sang it well at Live8.
And I think you might be thinking of Live Earth, last year, which was again Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly, along with Missy Higgins (and John Butler). Pretty amazing! As was the performance of the song at the Kev Carmody tribute show, “Cannot Buy My Soul” at the Sydney Festival, again with Paul and Missy, along with Clare Bowditch, Dan Sultan, Steve Kilbey, Glenn Richards, Tex Perkins, Sara Storer and loads of others. That was truly a special performance.
Gah! I think you’re right – all i wanted to do was share a good song
YAY At least someone knows it - it was amazing
