Mike Ditka: "There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of."

Hey, running coach, guess what, we need to be open to the possibility that it is likely to be BOTH!!

He had been playing in the NFL for a year when Redskins owner George Marshall had to be forced to finally sign black players.

Full disclosure: I don’t know jack about football. I just learned that in a couple minutes with Wikipedia:

I love the idea that the players have no right to silently protest the deaths of people who look like them due to the state, but Mike The Dick can run his fucking whore mouth anytime he likes and say what’s on his empty ignorant fucking mind with no consequences for him, as if what he’s saying isn’t hugely political too.

Eat a Dick, you disgusting shitbucket of a human being.

I don’t know of any good teams the Bears have fielded in the last 100 years, so there’s that too.

Agreed. Combined with “My experiences are the only real ones. If anyone else says they experienced different challenges in life, they are lazy or lying.”

I mean, ANYone can be a success, right? If you go bust in your first million dollar business, just ask daddy for another “loan”, right?

Just get into a good university as a legacy and parlay those “C” grades into a VP position at one of your daddy’s friends companies. How hard can it be?

'85. Da Bears.

Never heard of them.

C’mon, man. Are you that thick? Ravenman was using obvious irony. Everyone knows about the '85 Bears. Just like everyone knows about the injustices that blacks have experienced over the last 100 years.

[Neil] Hey Man, no need to get all heavy and uncool. [Neil]

He didn’t see it because he is a rich, white male who was basically in a bubble. Therefore, it didn’t happen.

Yup; during his playing career, his black teammates were still experiencing segregation and discrimination.

Ditka has increasingly become a crank as he’s gotten older, and this is just another example of that.

A question like that should never be applied to anyone whose brain’s thinking parts – assuming they ever existed – were violently blown out of his head many decades ago.

But even the morons who defend racism by arguing “Things aren’t like that now” usually concede that things were bad back in fifties and earlier. I never seen anyone claim that racism didn’t exist a hundred years ago.

I am gonna play devil’s advocate, Maybe he meant injustices in the NFL or sports in general. African/Americans have done pretty well in that area. Maybe his pea-brain doesn’t think outside the stadium or arena.

Maybe a hundred years isn’t as long as it used to be.

But, as noted above, there was discrimination against black players in the NFL when Ditka started his playing career.

There’s at least one poster on this board who makes that claim. Things were alright for everyone back in the 50s, before the hippies came along and invented racism, sexism, and homophobia, in order to upset the perfect apple cart.

I think Ditka’s just like a lot of coal miner conservatives I’ve met and known over the years. Not a bad guy, means well, but just not very worldly. ANd no I’m not making excuses for him. I don’t take my pointers on civics, history, and social issues from people like Ditka. I’d still probably sit down and drink a beer with the guy and eat some Polish sausage; we just wouldn’t talk politics or get into mushy stuff.

I didn’t. My “knowledge” of the Bears comes mostly from the SNL sketches from around that time, including some that mocked Ditka directly. They won a championship in the mid-eighties? News to me.

We miss you, Yogi Berra.
