They could start knitting from the middle. Seam in the middle.
No buggy seam to tick me off.

Off topic, of course, but I was lightly amused to find this semi-practical knitted sock from ancient Egypt, online. (Reddit)
It does feature the seam at the toe, but the idea of a detachable heel, to make for easier repairs seems wise.
Seems wise, until you realise that a pair of socks is now 4 pieces, and if just one piece goes to wherever socks go in their happy, foot-loose afterlife, the remain quarter will languish, unused in the sock drawer forever.
Morning missive:
I was awakened by my neck hurting again..just got two shots yesterday for it. You know I sneezed while laying reclined and it did something in there.
Doc said coughing and sneezing does this a bunch.
Like a true Doper, I ask him for “cite”.
Guess his answer?
Google it

Grammar alert!
You were not “laying reclined”, you were “lying reclined”.
“Lay” is a verb that takes a direct object, as in “laying floor tile”. There is no direct object in the various tenses of the verb “lie”.
How do you know she wasn’t laying reclined?
Because she didn’t say what she was laying. Floor tile? Carpet? A welcome mat? An egg? Hard to do any of those things when reclined. Although it might plausibly be possible for an athletic hen to lay an egg in such a position.
I’ve given up complaining about the lie/lay confusion many people have, and I’m not even a native speaker. Even a nobel prize winner for literature got that wrong: ![]()
As I learned back in high school freshman English, there’s a big difference between lying on the beach and laying on the beach.
Further nitpick. He didn’t “get it wrong”, it’s just that song lyrics are usually written in the common vernacular. I’m sure that the Rolling Stones would have been able to afford a linguistic consultant when they wrote “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”, but they didn’t want one.
“Laying on the beach” is grammatically correct when there is a direct object to the verb, such as the person that you’re laying. ![]()
Well, @wolfpup I do know that.
But it’s sounded kinda frou-frou.
I should of said “I sneezed while reclining” maybe?
The underlying thing is, I wasn’t ready for the sneeze so I whip lashed my fool self. (How’s that for a sentence?)
Thx wolfpup. I’ll take more care, in future.
Yes, that has been my point for 3 posts now.
Yes, “sneezed while reclining” was all that was necessary.
But “I should of said …”! OMG! The horror! My dear sweet Beck, did you really write that?

So are message board posts.
I was lying on the beach, thinking about laying down with the woman lying under the umbrella, so when she got up I gently lay her down on the blanket and then I lay with her. Did that really happen, or am I lying?
Now what’s wrong with that, pray tell, wolf?
So are message board critiques that are obviously not intended to be taken seriously! ![]()
For your information: “of” is a preposition, while “have” is the correct (auxiliary) verb there.

@Beckdawrek, heed the guidance of our resident Deutscher Hund!
Technically the verb phrase “should have” followed by a past participle is a past modal verb. You should of used it.

good. For once I’m okay-ish.
It’s not uncommon at all for a Pit thread to result in people just having a friendly conversation unrelated to original topic. And it’s not uncommon for that to happen as a way to stop people from trolling.
No, the parameters aren’t exactly the same. But I did say it’s the same level, not the same thing. She’s not doing any of the things I would pit someone for: bigotry, attacking people, being a hypocrite, etc.
As for “ruining a discussion”: she came in after the attack on chela had mostly faded out, and started a new conversation. Others were happy to engage with her. The only other conversation going on was about how the Pit works, and that topic reached a natural conclusion,
Now, sure, some people are mad that she’s having a pleasant conversation in a thread that’s supposed to be pitting her. Her posts haven’t stopped them, either. She just is (for the most part) ignoring them, and that annoys some people enough to get mad.
Me? If she is trolling, then I’m not going to take the bait.
