On the occasion of his centennial, I was wondering whether any doper could steer me to some article I read maybe 15 years ago about the conductor/composer (possibly in The New Yorker: I have googled sans success) which included an anecdote about how he mischievously programmed a New York Philharmonic or Boston Symphony concert solely to have its program read “[name of famous classical composer, maybe Beethoven] ‘Fux’ (an actual classical composer) [another classical composer].”
