I want to propose a follow-up question to the article about being able to subsist on nothing but whole milk and potatoes. Cecil mentioned that you would need to add oats to get the molybdenum that your body needs for the day and that it would balance the diet a little more. Which leads to the question how much milk, potatoes, AND oats would you need to survive on each day (and in actual amounts)?

Thank you for your comment - I will pass it on to Cecil as a potential update to the online column.
Add cabbage and you’ve got something. Cabbage figures big in the traditional Irish diet. They grow a number of different kinds, depending on time of year.
