I expect the police are now at the vice president’s house arresting him, right?
(slightly edited by me)
Did she really say Cheney did it? What little I’ve read said she aint talking.
Oh yeah, a link.
Um. I’m not sure what article you are reading, but the one you linked to says: Her source was Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, reported the Times, which supported her contention that her source should be protected.
This really sucks for the foaming Rove-haters.
My take on the article is that she’s saying Scooter leaked it. Dick can just call him a bad apple, and let Libby fall on his sword like a good soldier.
Plausable deniablity, eh?
Actually, it looks more like they’re tossing Scooter to the wolves. The only place in ANY of the articles I found about this where Cheney’s name is mentioned is as Libby’s boss. Scooter’s going to be toast, looks like.
What rock have you been living under? Libby’s involvement is not a surprise to anyone, and I don’t see how it’s good news for Rove.
Cheney’s got Alzheimer’s now?
So coming from the vice president’s office is not coming from the vice-president, huh? Oh well. And here I thought justice was being done. Silly me.
Actually, it’s a good thing Miller has been in jail the past few months. She missed being laid off by the Times.
If that’s your opinion, cool, but it’s not exactly what Miller said.
From the NYT:
I forget how that plays into the timeline of other people finding out.
For a second there, I thought Biggirl was pitting me, and my life flashed before my eyes.
Please…the train never goes all the way to the last station in this White House. It’s somewhat amazing how many naughty little boys Bush and Cheney have on staff, to get into all this stuff without their bosses’ knowledge.
He caught it from Reagan.
Condoms. Can’t emphasize that enough.
Okay, you win.
(Crap. After I posted that, I thought “is everyone going to get that I was referring to the whole Iran Contra convenient forgetfullness thingie?” for those who didnt: that’s what I meant. Yes, it’s a lame joke if you have to understand that, but people here tend to find offense, even when none is intended.)
Scooter would not have had the clearance to know that Plame was covert. Someone had to have told him. And it really stretches credulity that that Libby would have done this without his overlords knowing about it.
The fact that Scooter himself has given permission to Miller to spill this leads me to believe that the Bushies have worked out their story and that they will find some way to skirt just shy of criminality and that they will spin anything short of criminal convictions as “vindication.” Never mind that W assured us all that those responsible would be fired (as well as that he knew that Rove had nothing to do with it).
With no election to worry about and no reason to care about public opinion, I suspect that Bush will simply ride this out with no consequences. Stephe69 is proof that Bush’s core supporters will never be swayed by anything this White House does.
What do you know? And when did you know it! :dubious:
You THINK? All it took was a phone call and a note to get this moving:
Now Judith’s been pretty busy visiting with bigwigs at the big house, so maybe she hadn’t asked before now, but surely Scooter wouldn’t leave a lady rotting in a jail cell for months, when he could set her free with a few words, and the jot of a pen.
I wonder if Bolton hand delivered the final version of “what really happened” to Ms. Miller’s cell?
So, how was jail?
