I was going to say that he was like an Elucidator clone but without the wit, erudition, intelligence and mastery of the language. But I may be wrong.

Except he has insulted individual Dopers on several occasions. Follow his posts- there is one giving a straightforward rec for whiskey and almost all the others are insulting. What particularly pisses me off is that he has goaded me into returning fire at least three times and I was the one the mods told to chill.

Oh, no, not at all. He meant exactly what he said. What you are describing would have been clever, wryly sarcastic, and subtle.
I love Milum. I really do. He first came to my attention when he lectured me on federal standing when I was a federal law clerk, and has since then corrected me and the other SDMB lawyers on many points of the law. He has also corrected linguists on linguistics and Qagdop the Mercotan on medicine. I’m waiting for the day when he finally lectures The Bad Astronomer on astronomy, and maybe a hooker on fellatio.
Needless to say, I’m a big fan of Milum and have become something of a connoisseur of his posts. This one is an example of a Milumism I have termed The Pat on the Head: a refutation of the argument by dismissing the poster as young and foolish, lacking his age and experience. Here are more examples:
There are many, many other Milumisms, like The Imaginary Conversation, The Bizarre Analogy, The Lofty Assertion, The Thread Closure, and The Post Hominem, but I have not yet completed my anthology. That said, please, please, please don’t ever ban him. He is, in many ways, the very best poster on the boards.
