Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension
have to second this. enchanted never fails to put me in a good mood.
The first title the thread title brought to my mind is Ice Princess. It has a zamboni. What can I tell ya?
Season 1 of Flight of The Conchords
I know it sounds like a stupid waste of time, but Hot Tub Time Machine was really good. On par with The Hangover. I expected Bill and Ted and got Back to the Future.
ETA, I see it was already mentioned…it’s worth mentioning again.
Amelie - Subtitled heartwarming mindlessness
Pride & Prejudice (Keira Knightley) - 2 hours of high-quality mindlessness
Pride and Prejudice (Jennifer Ehle) - Lots of hours of high-quality mindlessness
The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain - romance in Wales
The Mummy - A better action flick than most people give it credit for
Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl - Totally stupid, but Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush make it.
Down With Love. It’s reasonably intelligent, maybe a chick-flick, and light. There’s also The Emperor’s New Groove, which is a cut above most Disney cartoons.
Let me second both The Princess Bride(best movie ever) and Stardust(very Princess Bride like). If she hasn’t seen them she needs to.
She(and you) should watch Dr. Horrible’s Singalong Blog. It’s on youtube in pieces. You can also buy it from itunes. It’s a half an hour long, an hour if you count the musical commentary(yes the director commentary is a musical).
If she’s OK with old movies, how about Bringing Up Baby?
Bye Bye Love is cute - it’s about a group of three guys, their ex-wives, and the struggles they all have while balancing love and family. I liked it a lot.
Addicted to Love is also a bunch of fun. Meg Ryan, Matthew Broderick, what’s not to love?
