The HD stuff is in particular pretty amazing. That’s the only foundation I’ve had people flat out GASP when it’s applied- it looks that good. And I can vouch for its lasting power. Like I said, Sephora will happily give you heaping samples of the stuff to try, so pop in and grab some, see what you think!
I’m 24 and I like how it doesn’t accentuate the teeeeeensy lines by my eyes, but just looks nice and clear all day, covering a few of the bigger pores by my nose. Older women that have used it on my suggestion love that it doesn’t settle into wrinkles at all.
I use Bare Minerals and love it. As I get older, I find I have to exfoliate and moisturize a lot more. I also use a primer underneath and use as little mineral makeup as possible to get the look, finish, and length of wear that I want. One useful tip is to load the minerals on your brush and then spray the brush with some water till it’s barely damp. The minerals will buff on very nicely. Then apply mineral veil sparingly. I guess the message is to use very little and apply moisture as often as possible. Hope this helps.
I use the L’oreal Bare Naturals and really like it. It’s about $15. I have not noticed it settling in the cracks, but I do know what others are talking about because my co-worker’s makeup settles in her cracks. I always moisturize with DDF Moisturizer with 10% Glycolic Acid before applying which helps it stick. And I never put it under my eyes, instead using the tried-and-true liquid concealer.
As with any foundation, it’s very important to get the right shade. Too light and I look like I’m a corpse, too dark and I look like George Hamilton. If you don’t change your foundation as your face gets more and less tanned, you should be.
The thing I most like about mineral make-up is that it doesn’t feel heavy. I wear it most often in the summer and even occasionally wear it playing tennis. I still wear liquid foundation but reserve that for occasions that are climate controlled. Nothing worse than feeling foundation dripping down my face. Blech.
