@Mr.Duality is on Bohol Island. I’m in the Philippines on vacation and plan to be on Bohol on Monday. I just landed in Cebu tonight (Saturday). If any Dopers are around, care to join us? We’re thinking of Monday morning at a coffee shop on the island of Bohol.
Tomorrow, Monday 29 December at 0800, we will be at The Buzzz Cafe by Bohol Bee Farm, Panglao, on Bohol Island.

@Mr.Duality just dropped me off at my AirBNB (not a true AirBNB, I’m using the term in a generic sense). I could not make it to Bohol for yesterday morning so we met this morning instead.
He took me to a very nice café right on the water. A beautiful setting with very nice views. We enjoyed good coffee and he said the local ice cream was very good so, what the hey?, we enjoyed some good coconut ice cream in a cassava cone. Very good. So good, in fact that we each had 2. (It’s breakfast time and ice cream has milk, right?)
We had a very nice visit, small talk and all that, and 2 old jarheads reminiscing about our service times. A lot of times when military guys reminisce, sometimes I think it’s the shared misery that we reflect on. At least some of it, anyway. Mr.Duality’s MOS was one that you had to have scored in the highest percentile on the ASVAB to get in to. So he’s a very sharp guy. Only the smart folk get into the Dope, right? I tried to keep up with him in the conversation. Maybe I did.
It was very nice to connect here in the Philippines, on Bohol Island (technically we were on Panglao Island, a smaller one right next to Bohol’s SW corner), and I look forward to when he and I can get together again and shoot the shit. Either here or in the States.

@Mr.Duality picked me up from my AirBNB and brought us to the Bohol Bee Farm, right on the coastline where the views were quite nice.

The salad with the flowers was excellent, as per @Mr.Duality’s recommendation.
Red rice. At our tour of the rice terraces the other day the ladies there said they harvest red, white, and black rice. Interesting.
Shallower depth of field.
The food was great and the water and coast views were nice. A good place. @Mr.Duality, you are a righteous dude.
What are what looks like bottles hanging down from the roof? Or is that some kind of lighting fixture?
@Bullitt is too generous. There is so much to recommend about this place that it’s difficult to not prattle on about it at length.
I was sharp back in the day. Hard, too. Now I’m just some guy. The ol’ brain doesn’t work nearly as well as it used to. For quite a few years now, in order for new information to come in old information has to be deleted to make room.
To reiterate, I’d be happy to see any of you here in my little corner of the world.
I’m glad to hear that you guys had a great time. Sometimes, the mini-Dopefests are the best.
And @Bullitt , thanks for the photos of the food! I looked at them, and immediately got hungry. Kind of jealous, actually, my fridge has nothing like those treats. It is obvious that you enjoyed them. I hope someday that I can.

I didn’t notice them while there, but looking at the photos they look like bottles that have been spray painted, for decoration and color. Many places here are decorated for the Christmas holidays.
