Mini-Month Mini-Rants (Feb 2026)

Aww, I love you guys. Thanks for the support.

Are you giving us wine coolers?

I’m doing it. I reached out to my former bosses. One of them is already giving me a warm hand-off to a consulting firm. She says her grant writers on retainer make $100/hour.

I found that position I wanted, too. $50-100k per hour.

Even if my agency people weren’t being assholes, just the idea of working part time brings me immense relief. I don’t have the bandwidth to be supermom and an overperformer at work.

I’d like a $100,000 per hour job!

Lol. Sorry. I’m used to writing things in ks.

I’ll add another voice to support looking for another job. About 18 years ago I was in a somewhat similar position at work. I found that just the act of applying for other positions relieved the anxiety I was experiencing. I did end up with a new job, and what I learned at that job was worth a hell of a lot more than what I would have learned if I had stayed at my old job.

And 4 years later when the new job became unbearable, I did it again.

Most excellent.

Aside from the snark about the “k”, please let us know how that’s going. We’re rooting for ya!

Spicy Weasel for the win!

(Sorry, I’m way too excited about this)

I left a situation like yours and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Mine was a bit of a pay cut but I didn’t care; it meant respect and freedom and the end of being micro-managed!

So, yes, keep us in the loop!

I’m excited about it too! Cover letter ready to go!

I fit all three qualifications for their preferred candidate

  1. Advanced degree
  2. 7 years or more experience (I have 15)
  3. Experience with non-profits serving women

There was a huge bang from the otherside of the wall in my house. Nothing fell over inside… I checked outside and nothing fell over outside. Its 5 degrees out now and very windy.

I’ll check to see if something happened inside of the garage tomorrow.

I’m experiencing a lot of vicarious excitement myself.

I have officially submitted my application!

Fingers crossed.

Yay! Sending positive karma at it.

It’s kinda like those wavy lines on TV back in the day. When we were going into a flashback scene. Woooo woooo

Sending my best wishes! And when you get the job, please let us know how you handled the exit from your previous one. Maybe you could even give a presentation to the BoD that causes the CEO to be fired! :slight_smile:

Ha! I’m quite nervous about that part. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I’m getting to the point of being unable to go out in the winter. In the summer I wear loose-fitting sandals. In the winter it’s one problem after another. I have swollen feet due to edema and even after Amazon sent me the right size loafers and wrote off the cost of the wrong-size ones and the shipping cost of the replacements, the new ones are still a tight fit but worse, there’s something in one that rubs painfully against my ankle, and I can’t see what it could be.

So I gave up on the whole concept and ordered a pair of fur-lined snow boots. They arrive tomorrow. With zippered sides. :Hopefully they work well with no socks.(putting on socks with me is basically an acrobatic act, except with much more grunting.)

@Spice_Weasel
Wishing you success with your job change. Even though it’s a difficult decision it sounds like you have the motivation and energy to make it work.

@wolfpup

That sucks. I hope your boots work out.
