We just got a new radio station. Minnesota Public Radio now has three staions in the Twin Cities. One for news, one for classical music, and now…well… Their Playlist
Any radio station that will play Nick Cave, Harry James, Elvis Presley, Tom Waits, and a bunch of people I have never heard of, and do it without commercials and with 100,000 watts…well, I pity you for not living in Minnesota. It might be a frozen wasteland half the year, but the Music! The sweet music!
And yes, I know there will be the inevitable pledge drive. I don’t really care.
Good god. Now they are playing Leonard Cohen. I’m in love.
That radio station is my new best friend! It is amazing to turn on the radio and hear the stuff like The Postal Service, Wilco, The Arcade Fire, etc.
I hope it lasts! They seem to be pretty popular, the DJs keep talking about all the email they are receiving.
Well, this is DAMN cool. It looks like two of my favorite Rev105 DJs, Thorn and Mary Lucia, have found a new on-air home. Guess what’s going to be my default choice for the foreseeable future?
None other network besides that of the North Dakota Public Radio has given me more intellectual stimulation, between the Thomas Jefferson Hour and Car Talk blocks than any I can compare to. And that includes all of the Jazz and talk stations I listened to in New Jersey, Arizona, and now Montana.
Even the good ol’ Dr. Demento was only carried on one station out of Flagstaff. I haven’t heard him since. I miss him, but he can’t compare to the plethora on the wavelengths being directed my way. . .
