The iron rod pierced him right through chest. But he survives due to medical care and luck.
And promptly gets featured in Ripleys belive it or not and in New England journal of medicine…

Wow that looks painful. I am always amazed when people survive impalings. So much damage is done to the body yet somehow the body survives and eventually heals itself. We’re amazing creatures.
