Manchester College is located in North Manchester, Indiana. There is no town called just “Manchester”, nor is there one called “South Manchester.” There is just the town “North Manchester.” North of what, I have no idea.
Indiana also has the city of South Bend, and there is no North Bend, though actually South Bend is named after the nearby bend in the St. Joseph River.
Actually, there is a North Bend Township in Starke County. North Bend is a bit south (more specifically, southwest) of South Bend.
Should have come to Climax, MI.
South Bend is also home to the Southold Dance Theater. This is confusing since the only place named “Southold” is my home town on Long Island in NY.
If anyone had heard of Southold, the name of the group in South Bend is confusing, but evidently South Bend was called “Southold” in the early days.
The city of Boise is not in Boise County, which lies just north and east of Ada County, which is where the city of Boise resides. There is also a Boise City in the Oklahoma Panhandle. There’s a place called Idaho Springs in Colorado.
North Bend, Oregon is nowhere near Bend. The former is on the coast near Coos Bay while the latter is in the center of the state.

Thanks to New York City’s belief that it’s the center of the world, the area I live in is misleadingly called upstate New York despite 90% of the state being north of it.
And in this region, we have towns called Highland, Highland Falls, and High Falls - three distinct towns none of which are within fifteen miles of each other. Not so much misleading as confusing.
The Giants, Jets and Cowboys have been mentioned, but I’ll keep them in here for completeness sake:
–The New York Giants and New York Jets play in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
–The Buffalo Bills play in Orchard Park, New York.
–The Dallas Cowboys play in Irving, Texas.
–The Washington Redskins play in Landover, Maryland.
And from the nitpickery file, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ stadium isn’t actually built in a body of water. They play in Tampa, Florida

That apart ,true cockneys have to be born within the sound of Bow Bells which aren’t in Bow which is in the East End but are actually in the church of Mary Le Bow which is in the City of London,so there aren’t many true cockneys about at the moment unless you believe all these people from Hertfordshire,Surrey and the Falkland islands.
