Misogyny and pop culture: don't yuck my yum! (Spoilers for the movie Poor Things)

Yes, in the category of “search results that have nothing to do with what I actually searched for”, I did get hits of women wearing a cross.

You use AI, you can make your own.

And here’s a woman with a cross to bear.

I find it fascinating that Christianity envisions God as being exclusively male. I suspect that’s why Mary gets so much play in Christian art. And this is the pit, so i suppose we can go down that rabbit hole. But it it’s getting pretty far afield of the topic.

Love it!

We get the weirdest door-to-door missionaries around here.

She’s in the alternate gospel where the centurion on Golgatha is a Vietnamese woman. She couldn’t possibly allow anyone else to do her nails

“Join our religion and you get a tame bear” might make me reconsider my atheism…

Judaism did it first:

Maybe do a “woman carrying cross with white knight on steed” image, there will be one along in a minute.

Not the fuck what I said. Your gransplaining is the part where you tell young women who think porn can be positive that they’ll eventually grow up and realize how wrong they are. That’s astonishingly condescending of you, and it’s based on age, and it’s the sort of obnoxious shit you engage in all the fucking time. You vacillate between “look at my folksy old wisdom” and “oh no well I guess I’m not wanted and I’ll go shut up,” and it’s so tiresome.

“Gransplaining” is a pretty decent word for the sort of ignorant holier-than-thou nonsense that older people engage in when they’re convinced not only that they’re right, but that younger adults just don’t have the wisdom yet to realize how their elders are right.

Edit: I have no opinion on the movie yet. I’ll probably see it soon with my wife and 15yo daughter, as long as the cringe factor on the latter isn’t too great. We saw Everything Everywhere All at Once in the theater, butt plugs and all, but sat in separate parts of the theater.

Can you do Alanis Morrissette with a cross-eyed bear?

I did a google image search of your question and this was the first result:

I suspect I’m younger than you. Don’t gransplain to me.

I’ve raised 4 well adjusted young people. Of course my opinion matters to them. I am older than they are. I lived and learned.

And they will too. With my opinion blaring in their heads.

It’s called teaching.

Thanks, that’s pretty good, lol.

I was planning on watching it when it hit home media based on the praise I kept seeing at The Mary Sue. I had very little idea about the plot, though, having avoided spoilers until getting caught up in this thread…

Well, I guess somewhere around there are 4 young people who firmly believe that whoring is evil unless it’s for attention.

That one took a few prompts but I think this nailed it.

(3rd image in the set.)

Those bears have a disturbing number of claws…

Eta: also, if you zoom in on the faces of those “children”, I think they actually appear to be horrible demons.

I guess a reassuring number of claws would be zero.

Oh, the dozen-clawed bears and demonic children are only in the first photo. Number 3 is pretty great.
