We keep getting a recording from Miss Cleo, the telephone psychic, several times a week (3 days in a row recently). Now, if this was a normal telemarketer I would ask to be placed on their do not call list - but this is a recording, there is nobody to talk to! What the hell am I supposed to do about this? I only get about 4 hours of sleep a day during the weeks and am getting sick of it being interrupted by that bitch with the fake accent.
(Miss Cleo accent) I see it yo’ cards. Yer tired an’ cranky – what the doctors call sleep-deprived. Chile, if’n yo’ sleep be so precious, why doncha simply unplug de friggin’ phone? Seems t’ be the simplest way o’ handling dis! Miss Cleo know!
A’ course, I kin unnerstand if ya want’ ter keep de phone lines open fer act-u-al emergencies, so I’ll tell ya what – why don’tcha keep de phone in unnuder room udder den de bedroom, an’ we’ll take some udder suggestions on how t’ 'liminate recorded phone messages.
Callers?
Phone is not in the bedroom. I have two elderly parents with potentially deadly medical conditions, I like to keep it plugged in just in case something bad happens. The phone ringing in the next room is enough to wake me up and I get to the phone on the second ring, still mostly asleep. By the time I hear the recording and hang up, I’m awake and angry enough that it will take me a good 30 minutes to fall back asleep.
OooOOOoookay.
Have you triedthis?
Stupid link.
Get call intercept. Here is a link…Call Intercept
I also own a super caller id unit that claims to be able to do this on its own. I have never attempted to use this feature.
Seems that with Call Intercept my phone would still ring when Ms. Cleo calls, just differently. I’d still have to get up and check and see if it’s somebody I know, as calls from where I work come through as ‘Unavailable’.
I guess my wife must have called Miss Cleo or another telephone psychic with the same company or something, according to those rules. I knew she called one, didn’t really mind at the time, but I’m getting sick of these recordings almost every damn day.
Considering the attention she is beginning to get from the authorities for illegal credit card and phone bill charges, a call to your state’s attorney general’s office might be in order. Check your phone and/or credit card bills closely. Also, IIRC, federal law requires that any prerecorded sales calls include instructions on how to stop such calls. If Miss Cleo fails to heed your request to stop calling, she may be subject to civil penalties (but good luck collecting…)
