Miss Pole Dance World 2009 - Felix Cane - WOW

Man… that just reinforces for me how much I wish I’d gotten to use one of those spinning poles back in my day of being a dancer :frowning: It’s so much different on a fixed pole (like the first one she was on) and those moves where you’re just orbiting the pole look so cool!

Wait - the poles spin? How can one tell?

And you could always get back in the game, Opal. Roowwwrrrr.

Ah, the pole spins? That explains some of what was puzzling me… I couldn’t see how she could possibly be maintaining those spins. It also, I suppose, explains why there’s two poles.

What really amazes me, about the first linked video at least, is that she’s clearly incredibly strong, but she doesn’t look muscular at all.

And in the uneven bars video, it sounds so odd nowadays to refer to a 17-year-old gymnast as “just a little girl”. Nowadays, that’s nearly retirement age for an Olympic gymnast.

Yeah, the second pole she went to is a spinning pole. You can tell because she’s holding a position several times but keeps rotating around and around the pole with almost no friction. On the other pole, you’ll see that there are very few times when she goes around the pole like that, and it’s only for very short moments when she does.

It never much bothered me before that I was ineligible to join the local Polish club. Today, I wish I were a Pole.:stuck_out_tongue:

That’s a great link! The text appears to have been written in the 1700s with Random capitalization, that Emphasizes some Words for No particular Reason.

Stupid Youtube not showing me superhawt poledancers

And comma splices!

No man, that’s poetry!

I’m imagining listening to those words at a Poetry Slam.

Actually, I’m thinking of a pole with a built-in brake, that can convert from stationary to spinning. The dancer could land and hit a release at either the top or the bottom to free it to spin.

Wow, that HQ button in YouTube was really handy for that video. It was too darn dark in there though.
Beauty and eroticism aside, she is an amazing athelete. I think that sort of strength would be better than getting in bed with a gymnast!

From the link:

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: That just can’t be right. Ultra SCSI doesn’t spin that fast.

LOL, neither do high performance sports cars. I’d like to see a dancer hold onto a pole at 1/10 that speed!

Hopefully they just took the data from the specs for whatever bearings they used for this device. Presumably there are roller bearings that could withstand 16,000 RPM.

God bless you, man! I’ve watched that video about a dozen times and I never thought to press that button. Now to watch it another dozen times.

I found another video of her from the 2008 Australian competition. I think it’s just as good - check out an amazing move at 5:35

Un-frakking-believable.

That was amazing. I didn’t read the whole OP, just clicked the link, and thought, “She should join Cirque du Soleil.” Then I read that she had.

I agree, the two things that impressed me the most were her making it look effortless, when surely enormous strength and concentration were required, and the ankle spin thing - she’s not just doing a split, she’s gone beyond 180 degrees, and then is also using her ankles and back to hold on while she spins. It’s unreal.

I preferred this one.

I also liked the one at 1:16. I’m easy to entertain I guess!
