The two British divers who were the first to reach the boys - Richard Stanton and John Volanthen - have just been awarded the George Medal in the Queen’s New Years Honours List. It’s the second highest civilian award for gallantry. Five other British divers were also awarded for their endeavours.
That’s wonderful to be recognized! Looking back, the efforts were amazing nearly a miracle.

There was a lot of speculation in this thread about how the boys were sedated during the rescue. Apparently there’s a new letter to the New England Journal of Medicine that says that they were given ketamine.
