Mission complete - thesis submitted today!

Today, after years of hard work, I finally submitted my PhD thesis. Hooray! It was very hard in the last few months, when I had tons of data, algorithms and theories but had to tie them all up together and write a hefty tome about it. That was the longest thing I ever wrote, ever, clocking in at 118 pages - single spacing!

That’s not the end of it, of course; my viva is going to be on the 11th of August. Let’s cross fingers, and if everything goes well I can book my next flight as Dr Aruns

And in the meantime, I’ll take a well-deserved break.

Congrats! I know how much work it is getting to this point. Enjoy the break till the viva!

Congratulations! Enjoy the break.

How many words in the title? Just out of curiosity.

Eight words.

Woohoo! Congratulations! Good luck.

Congratulations! I remember my daddy working on his … he would lock himself in the bedroom for hours on end. We kids practically didn’t see him for a year.

Congratulations! And eight words is a wonderfully pithy title.

Congrats, and I hope everything goes well for you in August. That’s a lot of hard work!

Congratulations!

(And, just out of curiosity – whose tip in the other thread was the one that got you over the final hump? :D)

I think the one that was useful to me was the one about setting uo a rewards system. I also tried very hard to stop looking at the clock as often as I used to, so that I could keep up the momentum when I got going. That, I think, was the thing that saved me.

As for the others, well, they were less directly relevant, as I already had all the ideas I needed and just had to write them all up. Finding new things to tinker with would have been a killer, I’m sure my supervisor would have been upset - he might have even raised his eyebrow.
