MLB 2010 Prediction Competition

Whoops, I completely misread this - sorry man.

No problem. There aren’t too many entries, so it won’t be hard to collate.

I’m thinking, since most of these categories won’t be decided for a long time, that i’ll leave the competition open for another few days even though the season starts today. I think it’s unlikely that anyone’s choice could be drastically afected by events in the first few days of the season, and it would be good to get some more entries.

Obviously, though, if you pick late, you can’t include something that has already happened. For example, if Zack Greinke throws a no-hitter on Monday, and you choose Zack Greinke in the no-hitter category on Tuesday, you can’t count the one he has already thrown. He will have to throw another one for you to qualify.

My own selection will be in soon. I almost had them finished, but then got sidetracked by the excitement of a SoCal earthquake, and my mother in Australia calling to make sure we were OK.

Guess i should play in my own game, huh?

I thought that I would be the only one picking Peavy or that pitcher from Baltimore. I guess those picks weren’t unorthodox as I thought.

I have been expecting Utley to have a standout MVP year for a few years now. I can’t expect him to outshine Pujols in all three triple crown stats. But, I can see him having it all together and an excellent defensive year to put him over the top to win the award.

I think the AL West is the toughest to pick this year. I think each team has a legitimate shot to make it if everything breaks right. (I think the As have to have the most go right. But, it is still within the realm of possibility. They aren’t the Royals.)

Thanks for thinking this. Fun to make predictions. Even if some of it is wishful thinking.

Well, young Heyward made a good start to his rookie season, clubbing a home run in his first major league at-bat. And Albert took up where he left off, with two homers in his first game of the year.
