That was the first time I’d seen Alex Wood pitch and I hate his delivery. He exposes the ball way too much. Seems to be better suited for the bullpen because I think he can only be effective once through the lineup. Speaking of which, LAD’s bullpen also sucked.
Orioles begin the season 3-0. Woohoo!
It was against the Twins, though, so i’m not getting my hopes up too much.
Reports are that it’s just a sprained ankle, but I think they’re doing an MRI for precautionary reasons.
Nice recovery, though.
Or he could have said that he’s “sorta” Buster Posey.
Kyle Schwarber out for the season. Cubs are going to need their depth , thank God they didn’t trade Soler.
Indeed, dale. Between him and Mr Alphabet, we should be okay.
Someone needs to rescue Schwarber from the National League.
Oh man, as somebody who’s torn an ACL I feel for him. Especially the bad luck that it took for the injury to happen. The ball was just hit in the perfect place to cause a nasty collision. The good news for Schwarber is that ACL reconstructions have an excellent track record. I wouldn’t expect it to affect his performance after the recovery.
Good fielders have sometimes-nasty collisions too (Mike Cameron, Carlos Beltran, Peter Bourjos…). This one looks like just one of those things.
Can’t tell how much communication there was between Schwarber and Fowler. Those in-the-gaps are supposed to be the CF’s ball, but if he can’t quite get there…
Lousy break for the Cubs–I feel bad for him and for them, even though I’m a Cardinals fan.
LOL.
Some major leaguers apparently need instruction in the infield fly rule.
The Phillies are not a team that can afford to give away unnecessary outs.
Ok, three wins for the Tigers, and I’ve got nine different guys on my spreadsheet. So far it’s a three-way tie for MVP between Ian Kinsler, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and Jordan Zimmerman.
Ross Stripling, making his Major League debut for the Dodgers, has pitched 7.1 no-hit innings against the Giants tonight.
After giving up a walk on his 100th pitch of the night, up 2-0, he’s just been pulled.
The Giants fans gave Dave Roberts a hearty round of boos as he took the ball.
And the reliever, Chris Hatcher, promptly gave up a home run to the first batter he faced, to tie the game.
As a fan I agree I was bummed when the kid got pulled but with 100 pitches and just coming back from Tommy John in a downpour that could have had his arm tighten up between innings I understand why it happened.
Of course now we’re looking at extras and the manager getting tossed. Talk about the game taking a weird left turn.
And what was all that sending Crawford up, to get the Giants to change pitchers? Like Bochy would ever fall for something like that. This game has taken a very weird turn.
Trevor Story of the Rockies has 6 Home Runs in his first 4 Major League games.
He’s already starting to slip though…one of his hits today was only a single…
The Cubs are no longer on pace for a 162-0 record after losing to the Diamondbacks last night. But that’s okay. I’ll settle for 161-1.
Stripling’s line: 8.1 innings, 1 run, 0 hits, no decision
Giants: 3 runs, 2 hits. Dodgers: 2 runs, 9 hits.
Baseball is a funny game.
