MLB: August 2010

Jose Bautista.

The Jays won a great one, too. Too bad it wasn’t on fucking TV because of fucking Rogers and their fucking Sportsnet Fucking One scam fuck.

Captain, I’m sensing anger … great rage …

The Cincinnati Reds now have a SIX game lead in the NL Central and a THREE game lead for the wildcard…and are only a half game off the best record in the NL (Padres).

I have to say, I never in a million years could have anticipated such a season from the Reds, at least not this year. They are proving to be a scrappy bunch.

Thought it would have been posted here by now.

Anyways, head over to Deadspin and check out what are supposedly proprietary financial statements of the Angels, Pirates, Marlins and Rays. Interesting reading on the economics of baseball.

Oh, and what is it with the Astros? Get rid of two of your better players, and now they’re playing like they should be in the playoffs, with the beatdown they gave the Phillies in Philly and the 3-0 win over the Cards last night. Hope they don’t get excited and decide to short-circuit a badly needed rebuilding.

Kuroda almost got a no-hitter last night against the Phils. The Padres better stop losing or they’re going to get eaten by SF. This must not happen. In no sane universe does SF ever finish above 4th in the NLWest!

Yeah, 5 straight losses for the Padres now. In their last 4 games, they’ve scored a total of 5 runs. Not good.

Kevin Correia’s on the mound today, and i hope he improves on his last outing, where he 9 runs on 9 hits in 3.1 innings.

I won’t say that I was actively rooting against my own team, but I was a little relieved when Victorino got that hit (as much as I hate Victorino). You see, I had tickets to last night’s game and opted to deal with something else I had on my calendar, instead. I was on my way home from that when I heard Kuroda had a no-hitter in the 8th.

I’m not sure I would ever have lived that down, especially since EVERYONE in my office knew I’d had tickets (I’d offered to sell them earlier in the day).

Jose Bautista.

43 homers, 103 RBI, and it’s August 31.

I thought 103 RBI before September was pretty remarkable, and figured 100 RBI before September was a rare occurrence in Blue Jays history, but to my admitted surprise it’s the ninth time a Jay has done that. Carlos Delgado did it three times.

Five more homers to break the team record.

Reds win again. Cardinals lose again. 7 game lead. Oh yeah, Aroldis Chapman pitched a relief inning and was amazing. If you don’t know who he is, you soon will.
Unreal.

Can this be real? I’m not used to being here before…

Watch “The Cuban Missle” pitch…kid looks pretty damn good!

And Lee sucks again. I swear if it were possible, I’d believe he was intentionally throwing games so the Rangers lose. Plus he can’t complain we didn’t give him run support… the final score was 10 - 9.

New thread for September.
