MLB August 2026

Are we sure that Cal Raleigh hasn’t been replaced by a mutant raccoon? As amazing as he was last year, he can’t find his butt with both hands this year.

Last night in the Padres/Mets game, Fernando Tatis, Jr. hit a home run on the first pitch of the game. Later, in the fifth, he hit a two-run dinger to lead the Padres to a 5-2 win. And, oh by the way, he also robbed Francisco Lindor of a grand slam with an amazing catch in right field.

You can watch the video in this ESPN article.

So, Dbacks player Ketel Marte decides to not play in Boston, doesn’t tell anyone that he’s going back to Phoenix by himself, and gets out on the restricted list (which I had never heard of).

That’s not the thing I wanted to mention/complain about. After a couple days of Marte, the team, and the broadcast announcers being terribly mysterious about the whole thing, suddenly Marte is injured (or “injured” more likely) on the 10 day IL. So he has a “knee injury”, and got an “injection”, but the manager gave a terribly mysterious press conference describing how they had a team meeting and said what needed to be said, (even though his is injured so why have a team meeting?) and still won’t say anything.

Who do you think you’re fooling? Marte is being a piss baby over…something. But no one will say. So don’t pretend it’s both nothing and an injury.

Everyone talks a lot, but no one actually says anything.

Do other teams have this kind of drama crap, and I just never see it because I only pay attention to my team?

He’s done for most of the rest of the season, anyway. A good portion of what’s left.

No, what’s going on with Marte is pretty unusual - it’s national news in baseball land. You get someone who does something crazy like this every other season or so.

Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena, in his team’s win over the Cubs, just became only the seventh player in MLB history to hit both a lead-off home run and a walk-off home run in the same game.
