Well, sure, a mass of people aren’t doing what you tell them to do. I experienced that in Army basic when we were told many times to shut up in ranks, but it never happened. Soldiers would be quiet for a few minutes (seconds more likely), and then talk would always proceed. Manfred and the MLB governing body are idiots if they expect their players to not act like humans.
Manfred can’t be charged for criminal negligence if this gong show goes on for even one more week, so, the only the remaining consolation I can get from this faisco is that his image is so tarnished and shat on to the extent that his only option is to step down in the next couple of weeks.
Yeah, my guess is that he’s talking about things like guys going out to bars and nightclubs after hours.
And now we’ve got players that have just disappeared.
HardballTalk: Report: Mets haven’t heard from Yoenis Céspedes for Sunday’s game
They found Cespedes - he’s “opting out” of the rest of the season
Who knows why. Cespedes being Cespedes
Maybe he truly opted out for COVID as stated. Maybe he didn’t want to take the risk. Maybe he felt he was not going to be able to play at the level he wanted and used COVID as an excuse. But I don’t buy that, he could have kept playing anyway and made millions this year. Well, assuming the season played out to the end, which is not going to happen. Maybe he just had an idea that the season would end soon, and why the fuck stay around to play a few more games?
I know he worked very hard over the past year to get in shape to keep playing. Very hard, how do you recover from 2 heel surgeries and an ankle injury?
Anyway, bye bye Ces, thanks for the memories. The 2015 season of course, a game three years ago when my friends and I went to the game and got a Cespedes gnome, and he threw out a runner at home in the 9th to save the game*, and the first game of this year when he hit a HR to win it 1-0.
*might want to take that off the bookshelf and put it back in the box, which I still have and is pristine. Might be worth $100 some day
Yoenis is just getting a jump on what everyone will be doing in a week or two, anyway.
Man, I hope it doesn’t get cancelled. I want to see if Aaron Judge can hit 60 homers in a 60 game season.
Probably not, he only has 6 in 8 games so far. I mean the slacker is off the pace.
But the relief pitcher three-batter rule makes it more likely he’ll face more favorable pitcher match-ups. OTOH, the shortened doubleheader games probably mean fewer at bats per game average. Ditto the runner on 2nd in the 10th.
Which wacky rule side effect(s) will outweigh the others? Hard to know.
Not really. He’s a right-handed hitter in the middle of a bunch of other right-handed hitters. The 3 batter rule isn’t going to affect him in any meaningfully-measureable way. The shortened double-headers will be a much larger factor.
This whole operation has been an embarrassing shit show. It needs to be shut down immediately.
Joey Votto to IL with COVID symptoms.
If you read that article you linked you will see that false positives seem to be fairly common.
This is a reply to Superdude. I can’t figure out when I reply the little arrow that shows up on other people’s replies to prior comments does not happen for me. What am I doing wrong?
Are you clicking the big blue “Reply” button at the bottom of the thread, or the “Reply” button inside the person’s post? It should be the one inside the post (there is a little chain icon, as well as 3 dots to push for other options).
Munch, I click the one in your post, then type my post, and then what do I do? click the reply button in your post again? When I do that, nothing happens. If I hover over that button it says "begin composing…So then what do I do? If I click the blue reply button I don’t get the arrow.
Then you click the blue “Reply” under the composition box.
Hmmm… That didn’t work for me, either. But in the edit box, it shows that I replied.
Maybe because we’re replying the post directly above. Try replying to someone further upthread.
OK, Munch thanks for trying to help me. I am now replying to a post of yours upthread so we’ll see if that does anything.
ETA it worked. Thanks again.
