MLB fans-Who will break your heart if they are in the Mitchell report?

Tony Gwynn. I really, really don’t want to see him on the list. One of the classiest players I’ve ever met.

Joe Carter and Roy Halladay.

I would be crushed.

It’s been taken down.

Neither Schilling or Ripkin are on the list. Neither is Tony Gwinn.

List includes:

Bonds
Pujols
both Giambis
both Boones
Clemens
McGwire
Nomar
Pettite
Mark prior
Johnny Damon
Kerry Wood
Jeff Bagwell
Man, there’s a lot of big names on this list.

Jeter is absent.

Surprisingly, Sammy Sosa is NOT on the list.

That would stink, I have utmost repsect for him.

DtC: Wait until 2pm

I still had the page up from before they took it down. Here’s the complete list with the caveat that MLB is claiming that the list contains “several errors.” WNBC is standing by the list.

Todd Helton is the one that would kill me. I primarily like him cause the strikes me a “play honorably” type guy, and I have been defending him for years.
edit:
oops, hehe that’s what you get for typing a reponse hours before you post it. Oh well I’m glad to see he isn’t on it

The only “real” Rocky on the list I could see was Dante, and that’s not a big surprise.

Varitek is the big surprise for me.

Brady Anderson- HUGE surprise there  - gee, I wonder what year he took them…

I’d hate to see Gwynn, Mattingly, Puckett, and Freddie Patek on the list. Would LOVE LOVE LOVE for Shilling to be there. Ripken too- I think his streak was selfish and cost the Orioles some wins over the course of it.

Jason Varitek and Trot Nixon. :frowning:

I don’t see a lot of shockers in there; a lot of the ‘names’ had been linked to steroids earlier. Pujols, however, could be a real blow to the game.

I’m surprised Jason and Jeremy Giambi’s brother “Tiny” didn’t make the list. And I regret not suggesting Mo Vaughn in the other thread.

If that list is correct, the only one that bothers me is Jason Varitek. I’m not a Red Sox fan, but I’ve always liked that guy and thought he was on the up and up.

Who would have suspected John Rocker was a 'roid rager?

Nobody, but Wood and Prior are on there, as well as Sosa and Nomar, so there’s 3 former Cubbies (Prior was released to free agency last night at 11:00pm) and one current Cub (Wood, slated to be a closer).

Not the biggest surprise with Wood and Prior, they’ve spent more time being injured than playing the game.

Or Carl Everett?

If it’s true that Wood and Prior are on the list, I’ll be a little bummed…especially Prior. He always seemed like a standup guy to.me.

Remember to differentiate between guys who juiced to become monsters (Sosa, Pujols, Bonds, McGuire) and the guys who used it to try and rehab from injury. Both those guys have been pretty torn up in the last few years.

In my heart of hearts I can’t see it as cheating when you’re just trying to keep your job (this is 100% IMHO. I know plenty would disagree) or ease the pain.

This list gives a whole new meaning to “player to be named later,” no?

There’s also plenty of speculation on the radio today that this might unleash a never ending cascade of players who are named flipping on other players who weren’t.

Today will always be remembered as a sad day in baseball.

That is true, and neither of them are massive guys…or, at least neither have become unusually or weirdly massive in a short period of time like some of these guys. Which, I guess is why I’m surprised to see them there.
